Concerns explored in her art therapy sessions range from trauma and injury to individual exploration and self-discovery. Some clients achieve a greater connection to their creativity, intuition and practical tools for reaching these aspects of themselves.

My passion for art started at a very young age. As a child, I was fortunate to be surrounded by art and music, along with the beauty of the Indian landscape, inspiring my interest in fine arts. As a teenager, I was deeply inspired by my grandfather, who introduced me to Ayurveda, Eastern Art, and Spirituality. I want to share my gift with the world and inspire people to live their lives to the fullest. Every piece of my art has a unique story and experience in progress. I am a learner for life; I believe in growth and diversity.

Reema's distinctive mark is seen in her ability to lay down "multi-layered coats of vibrant paint spread over a canvas with vigorous and bold brushstrokes. Reema’s entire body of work addresses taboo and controversial issues related to fundamental human experiences such as birth, death, and aspects of consciousness. Primarily influenced by the painters like Rembrandt and Monet helped place her work in direct conflict with the abstraction and conceptual art. Some of her favorite artists include works from Saya Woolfalk and Georgia O’Keeffe as well as work from a broad range of Canadian photographers.

She describes her style as primarily modern, abstract, textural and minimalist; others view it as spiritualism, and passion, that shows a link between the earth and cosmic forces above it. As such, the core of Reema's work lies in the natural imagery around her, but her ability to capture the elusive boundary between representation and abstraction is central to her singular language of modernism, she specifically incorporates her passion for art and spiritual practice in her visual explorations of the rhythms of daily life.

After graduating from Visual Communications, followed by Post graduation in Marketing and Public Relations from the University of Mumbai, India, she pursued her career as a Creative Art Director for some of the top advertising agencies, fortune 500 companies, design studios, and print publications. She moved to Toronto, Ontario in the 1990s, and completed her studies in Graphic and Web Design from George Brown College and Certificate in Digital Marketing from the University of Toronto. Her versatile spirit has led her to incorporate many different styles and mediums into her works including acrylic colours, watercolors, digital art, pastels, and inks. She is a Founder of White Antelope, a Canadian company specializing in Diversity and Digital Marketing Management and Sohum Healing Arts Centre serving a diverse range of Canadian audiences.

I love to explore various forms of art, whether it’s wall art, graphic art, typography, sculpture, abstract art, acrylic paintings or modern art. I am focused on improving my work. I want my art to connect to people’s souls, provoke their thought process and empower them to lead a life with integrity and compassion. I want to get involved and create community projects that are meaningful, dynamic and inspirational.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

| l'art du Coeur |
| The art of the heart|

Perceiving from the heart, a true art.

Perceiving from the heart means feeling, sensing, knowing how to listen without judging. With no prejudices, savoring life with all its flavors and touching reality with all its textures and paint. Perceiving from the heart has to do with sensitivity and unconditional love. It is the ability to not only retain what our senses convey to us but also to apply feeling, empathy, and intuition in order to get to deeper interpretations. My goal is to inspire those who see my art to look more carefully at the world around them, to discover beauty within.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Your vision will become clearer only when you look into your heart. He who looks outwards, dreams. He who looks inside, awakens.

Carl Jung

“For me, art is about the pleasure of seeing; of being cognizant of the world around me and pushing to find an alchemy between the paint, my subject and the moment”
